What is it?

Inventory optimisation refers to the determination and availability of inventory levels required to meet a given customer service level.

Through our applications, we use different forecasting techniques, and manage multi-echelon, multi-level, multi-channel demand. We calculate the required safety stock holdings in each client stocking location.

The main components of our inventory optimisation service are:

Supplier and lead time analysis

  • Analysis of supplier lead-time performance and its impact on safety stock holding calculations
  • Highlight impact on inventory holding and therefore benefits to inventory reduction from supplier performance improvement

Stock profiling and classification.

  • Defining the items to be held in each location, and the identification and treatment of fast, medium and slow moving items

Forecasting and demand planning

  • Forecasting and Demand Planning
  • Demand forecasting using historical data and selection of best fit techniques
  • Manage future events (e.g. promotions)
  • Forecast slow moving items
  • Monitor forecasting accuracy performance

Inventory modelling

  • Establish realistic inventory objectives
  • Set safety stock using line item risk-profiles
  • Develop inventory models driven by service level commitments
  • Facilitate "what if" scenarios modelling

Replenishment and distribution

  • Generate and manage new orders
  • Review daily order pipelines using dashboard technology
  • Set up distribution requirements using fair-share algorithm
  • Collaborate with suppliers

Excess stock management

  • Minimise the risk of ordering excess stock
  • Redistribute existing excess
  • Flag surplus-ordered items

Performance monitoring

  • Measure inventory performance against predetermined targets
  • Measure process improvements
  • Provide daily/weekly/monthly key performance indicators
  • Monitor the health of inventory
  • Evaluate performance by user-defined groupings
