  • Parts Inventory Forecasting
Customer Requirements
  • Our Customer had been awarded incremental business from an existing Customer which involved managing an extended supply chain when compared to the existing business and providing field engineering services for maintaining electronic products in the end-Customers home.
  • We were approached by our Client as we had the necessary applications and capability to effectively forecast demand within this complex supply chain. We therefore provided the planning and forecasting service to support their overall client business.
  • The existing business was supporting depot repairs and was less complex, where spare parts were only required for a central repair location.
Our Solution
  • Working together, we identified the data elements required to ensure effective requirement forecasts and purchase order suggestions.
  • We used our forecasting module in Matrix to receive these data elements daily and for the forecasting module to then make purchase recommendations.
  • We analysed initial outputs and identified and cleansed any data errors.
  • We made additional changes to data feeds in order to accommodate specific contract variable. For example; return policies (which we need to base our returns recommendations against).
  • We developed a remote service, providing purchase order and excess returns recommendations and general planning advice, (based on a weekly planning cycle) leading to a daily replenishment model.

Outcome
  • We:
    • Receive daily csv files from our Client's host ERP system via ftp transfer.
    • Manage a weekly forecasting cycle and make daily purchase recommendations in order to convert to purchase orders with their suppliers.
    • Monitor the fill rate to identify where forecasting assumptions are incorrect and modify to improve accuracy with future forecasts.
    • Participate in their internal reviews to enable us to understand end user experiences.
    • Enable our Client to see real time reporting (through Matrix), which enables our Client to understand our recommendations.
  • We have become a seamless extension of their supply chain organisation.
